Can't get out of demo-mode

Hello,

I'm one of the lucky 25. Thanks for that.

Now, I'm having a bit of trouble with this. The synthesizer doesn't register itself when I put the license key into the folder the plugin is in (in my case, "C:\Program Files\VST Plugins\synths\VASTvaporizer"). No matter what, I can't get out of the demo mode. The instructions are simple enough, but what am I doing wrong?

...and about the demo mode. The time to test the synthesizer before it mutes itself is way too short. As another aside, mr. Grammar rides in again, but shouldn't the label "Synch/Gate" read "Sync/Gate" ?

The sounds I did get out were very intriguing though, I'm liking what I'm hearing.

Hi riihi,

You are using the 64bit dll, right? On which Windows version?

Thanks,
Tobias

Plus I have to mention the way this forum works is confusing. You can see I sent the message several times, trying to use either 'reply' or the form below. After several attempts I got a captcha to fill and after completing that, the forum tells me the message is in a queue. Confusing, I just wanted to reply to you.

Hi riihi,

I just learned from another user that there seems to be an issue with the install paths on XP. But on Vista it should be fine.
The plug-ins reads the default VST path from the registry HKLM\\Software\\VST\\VSTPluginsPath (see regedit.exe). The default would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VSTPlugins for 32bit or C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins for 64bit. Dll and key files can be placed in this path or in a subfolder VASTvaporizer at this location.
In case that you want to use the subfolder synths (and the space in VST Plugins) you need to change the registry key so that it reads C:\Program Files\VST Plugins\synths.
Please let us know if that works.

Tobias

The registry key VSTPluginsPath on my system points to "C:\Program Files\VST Plugins\". I put the VASTvaporizer folder there, but it still doesn't load the license key and putting the license key in the "VST Plugins" folder doesn't work either.

It appears I have no way of telling if my replies actually come through, so here's once more..

The registry key VSTPluginsPath on my system points to "C:\Program Files\VST Plugins\". Neither putting the license file there or putting the VASTvaporizer folder there work. The system is a 32bit Vista. I would rather not edit the registry key to point to another location, since this system works and I have no idea what can break if I change that.

Hey it works like a charm! No inconvenience on my side, I'm glad you got it working now. Ah, the joys of releasing software in to the wild..

Thanks again for the free license, I'm off to music-ing now.

(And sorry for the multiple posts, I was bewildered with this forum software not showing my replies.. Makes perfect sense though, this is a support forum, less noise is better.)
